ABOUT
BUILT FOR THE BUSINESS YOU ARE STILL BUILDING
Work On Your Business (WOYB) exists for established small business owners and founders whose businesses have gained traction, but whose decisions have become harder to make, explain, delegate, or sustain. Many of the owners I work with have clients, referrals, experience, and a business that people already rely on. The challenge is that too much of the business still depends on what the owner knows intuitively. That may have worked for a long time. It may even be part of why the business grew. But eventually, the business needs more than the owner’s instincts, memory, judgment, and constant availability. It needs a foundation it can use.
WHY I CREATED WORK ON YOUR BUSINESS
I created Work On Your Business because I kept seeing the same pattern in my client work.
A business owner would come to me because the messaging felt unclear, the marketing was not working the way they expected, the team needed more direction, or the owner was tired of making every decision case by case.
I also heard a quieter version of burnout. Owners were not always saying they were burned out. They were saying they had not taken a real vacation in years, or that even when they stepped away, they were still answering emails, responding to client issues, fielding questions from the team, or carrying the business in the back of their mind.
These owners had built strong businesses through instinct, relationships, judgment, and service, but too much of that wisdom still lived in their heads.
At first, those looked like separate problems. Over time, something became clear. The visible issue was often not the real starting point. The business had grown beyond the clarity, structure, and decisions that got it here.
That is where WOYB begins.

PURPOSE-DRIVEN MISSION
Work On Your Business helps established small business owners and founders turn what they know, believe, and practice intuitively into a clear strategic foundation the business can use to serve clients, guide decisions, strengthen operations, and shape what comes next, so the business can keep moving forward without every decision depending on the person who built it.
VISION
A world where small business owners and founders have the clarity, structure, and freedom to lead the business they built, show up fully for their lives, and make decisions that serve their clients, their teams, and themselves.

WHY I LOVE THIS WORK
I love this work because most owners already have more wisdom than they realize. They know their clients. They know what matters. They have instincts shaped by years of experience, service, mistakes, decisions, and relationships. What they often need is the space and structure to see it clearly, name it, and turn it into something the business can use.
When that happens, the energy changes. The owner starts to see what is possible again. The business feels less like something they have to carry alone and more like something they can continue building with intention.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN WE WORK TOGETHER
Most owners have not done this kind of work before, so it is normal to feel a little uncertain at the beginning. You may not know what to expect. You may wonder how personal the conversation will become, how much you will need to explain, or whether the process will surface things you have not had time to think through.
My role is to create a space where you can be honest about the business without feeling judged for what is not yet clear.
I bring structure, energy, and a clear process to our work together, but I also leave room for the conversation to go where it needs to go. I ask questions from a place of curiosity, understanding, and empathy. I listen for patterns, notice what may be sitting underneath the first answer, and turn what surfaces into practical decisions that can guide the business after the session ends.
Clients often tell me I see things in their business in a way they had not considered before. That is the work I love most: helping owners reconnect with the value of what they have built, understand what makes it different, and make more intentional decisions about the business they are continuing to build.
This work can be personal, but it is not therapy. It is strategic work that makes room for honesty, because the best strategy depends on telling the truth about what is working, what is changing, and what the business needs next.
FROM MARKETING MANA TO WORK ON YOUR BUSINESS
Marketing Mana began as a marketing strategy company in 2018. Over time, the work became broader.
Clients were not only asking for stronger messaging or better marketing. They were using the process to make stronger decisions about their business, leadership, operations, offers, audience, positioning, and growth. When they applied the strategy, they saw results.
Work On Your Business first launched in 2021 as a multi-day strategy retreat. In many ways, that name has always held the deeper work: giving owners dedicated time and structure to step back from the day-to-day and make stronger decisions about the business they are building.
Today, WOYB reflects the work more clearly. Marketing may be where the lack of clarity shows up, but Work On Your Business focuses on the strategic foundation underneath it.
“Working with Alexis, a business owner will immediately feel calm and clarity, not only with her tone and thoughtfulness but also with her sound approach.”
Jillian Bernstein, Founder/CEO The Wellness Extension
“I think the most beneficial activity for me was looking at what I was spending on specific activities and what the return was on those activities. I quickly realized that the cost/benefit analysis, while positive, was low and the activities did not put me in front of my ideal client.”
Doreen Booth, Owner Doreen Booth Homes
“Alexis helped uncover things about my business I didn’t even realize we did. As a small business owner, I went to Marketing Mana to visualize and form our mission statement. Alexis did a wonderful job taking me through the different aspects of my business. She also helped me recognize more ways in which my company has and will continue to do things well.”
