In the waning days of summer, before school starts up again, my mind drifts to fantasizing about one last trip on the open road.  Just get in my car with no particular destination in mind.  Do I know where my destination is?  Will I know when I get there?  Absolutely not.  A friend of mine never travels that way.  Each step had to be preplanned, hotel reservations made, with specific activities scheduled once we got there.

One summer, we were traveling on the Pennsylvania Turnpike headed to Hershey, when we got stuck in a major traffic jam.  Luckily, we had reservations when everything else was completely full, even when we arrived 4 hours after our scheduled arrival.

Who do you think was successful in reaching their destination?  No matter which crisis would arise, whether they be major or minor, we could adjust based on where we were in relation to the destination.

Being a small business owner, it can feel like the open road hitting a traffic jam.  With no map, no plans, & just hope we can find somewhere to rest our weary heads.

Having a plan makes the journey less fraught with risk.  Yes, there may be outside forces that we have to adjust, but the destination, or goal, is still front of mind.

If you want to leave a lasting impression on the world, you need to have a plan in place. Having a plan means that you are confident in your goals and that you know what you are striving for. It’s this confidence in yourself and your goals that will allow you to keep going and to keep pushing forward. It’s through these plans and goals that you will be able to achieve greater heights and nothing can stand in your way.
